Coaxial Digital

Whereas the woven geometry of KIMBER KABLE® is preferable in the analogue realm - providing a more natural, musical presentation - in the context of digital audio signal transfer, there are certain factors which make a more traditional coaxial design generally more appropriate.

Not least of these is the fact that digital audio data is high frequency and wideband – you need to transfer large amounts of data quickly, accurately and efficiently. Digital-coaxial designs have the advantage of being high bandwidth, making them an excellent choice when dealing with large quantities of high-frequency digital information (even more important when streaming high-resolution files).

The 75Ω standard

When connecting two pieces of equipment with a digital coax cable, it is important to ensure the cable is rated at 75 Ohms. This is to ensure ‘impedance matching’ between the components. Digital components will have been designed to send and receive at an impedance of 75 Ohms. By using a matched 75 Ohm cable, you’ll ensure the connection works correctly, avoiding potential signal drop-outs, interference and jitter.

Premium digital performance

Kimber’s flagship digital coax cable offers an unsurpassed level of performance due to its complex design and use of the very best materials. Moving on from the architecture of DV-21/30, D-60 adds three more layers to the design, including dual PTFE fluorocarbon dielectric and dual pure silver helical shields. An intermediate layer of 'un-sintered semi-conductive PTFE' prevents ‘triboelectric noise’; the result of mechanical vibration which can contaminate the digital signal.

"Musical Fidelity Cdtransport/Dac With Kimber D60"
Replaced the existing, non RA interconnect on my MF CDT/DAC combo with a Kimber D60 interconnect. Previous interconnect was highly recommened &, to be fair, I was satisfied with the performance.,To say the least I was gobsmacked with the performance after the change. Once again Russ Andrews you have com out on top.
