What’s Cat7?

A category 7 cable (more commonly referred to as Cat7) is a high-end, data transfer ethernet cable used to deliver data between any devices connected to a wired network setup. Or in layman terms, the motorways connecting the cities together with the data being the cars and lorries traveling between them.

A Category 7 network cable is built to a much higher standard than the more common Cat 5 or 6 and is much more of a bullet-proof and future-proof specification.

This, of course, is more than you’ll likely ever need in a very long time. But that’s not the point: it’s the over-engineering and high build quality that retains signal integrity even over short distances. Even with the relatively small packets of data that you’re dealing with in a home network, we could hear the difference compared to a lower grade cable.

This cable delivers excellent performance for streaming audio or video, and, as always, provides a much more reliable and stable connection than wi-fi.

The most stable connection is a cable connection

Use Meridian Cat7 from your Router to a single device such as an all-in-one streamer. Use it for every network connection. For example, from your Router to a Network Switch, then from the Switch to a NAS drive, streamer, TV, games console etc.. in fact, anywhere you need an ethernet cable you can use this one!

What’s Meridian SpeakerLink?

SpeakerLink is a proprietary audio and communication interface between Meridian products e.g. DSP loudspeakers and processors/streamers. Two channels of balanced digital audio (with SmartLink) are sent along with Meridian communications data. Balanced digital audio means there is less likelihood of interference being experienced. SpeakerLink is also particularly useful simply for its convenience in custom installation environment, where CAT cable is common.

If you use Meridian products connected by Ethernet, it’s a worthwhile upgrade in performance to replace the cable with this one, since Meridian’s new SpeakerLink cable is based around a Category 7 (CAT 7) cable which has been selected by them for its superior shielding.

Meridian’s SpeakerLink cable is available professionally terminated by us, starting at 0.5m, then 1m and then sold in 1m increments after that.

Yes, I recommend this product.
"Definitely Better.."
..than the Basics cat7 that it replaced. Wasn’t sure what to expect putting this between router and streamer but the overall sound on Spotify is certainly calmer and fuller. Why that should be when both are cat7 cables I can’t say but it is certainly an improvement in my set up.

Yes, I recommend this product.
"I Didn'T Think...."
...... that these cables I received 2 weeks ago would make a great deal of difference to my system, hence the reason why I waited to install them. How wrong I was. I had been waiting for Ray Kimber to make some, but I was told they were not available.
Anyway Mr. Meridian has come up trump with his ethernet cables. The music flows better and is more detailed. Brass really sings, strings are more mellow, double bass to die for.

Cannons in the 1812 are not just a single bang, but more of a crack-boom-puff (smiley face). I am just listening to Led Zep, "Going to California" on the remastered 24 bit/96 Khz "How the West Was Won" amazing!
