Reviews
Hi-Fi Choice reviewed Kimber Tonik as part of a 'cable loom' along with Kimber DV-21 digital interconnect and Kimber 4PR speaker cable in their July 2020 edition.

"It sounds so natural, composed and coherent, newer rivals bow before it"

Hi-Fi World

Hi-Fi World magazine included Kimber Tonik in their round-up of six different interconnects priced up to £960 in the August 2009 issue.

And how did it fair? They say it's "A richly rewarding interconnect with superb low level resolution and fine tonality" - and awarded it four globes!

Tonik is one of our entry level interconnects which nevertheless proves the wonderful benefits that can be gained even at this level.

The Hi-Fi World review said that there was an immediate improvement by upgrading from a budget interconnect, as the Tonik "brought about a subtle but effective change" with positive gains in treble clarity. This had the advantage of creating a clearer view of the recorded performance, especially with orchestral pieces.

As for the bass improvement, they said "bass lines were vivid and nicely underpinned the main performance without ever tending to dominate". And it’s equally good news with the midrange, producing more clarity and insight.

We always say that the main reason for any system upgrade is to improve musicality and the listening experience. This cable, like the others in the Kimber range, demonstrates the principle very well and is recognised in the review with the conclusion: "A musically enjoyable cable offering plenty of sound per pound".

Customer comments

Just bought an attenuated version of the Tonik interconnect from you. It works miraculously and I wonder why not everybody is recommending this. I turn the volume a bit more up, but the quality of the sound is so much better and combined with the Kimber 4PR speaker cable I use, I get a very clean and pleasant sound from my gear."
Jan Danhof, The Netherlands

"With the Tonik [attenuated] in place the volume control now has a useful range and everything seems to breathe more easily, no longer struggling against the boundaries of it's working conditions. An excellent product with good quality construction and a sensible price."

Attenuation Guide
Is CD overload restricting the sound of your system?

Today, it is all too common for an amplifier's performance to be restricted because the output voltage of the CD player or streamer is too high. This can introduce distortion to the sound and restricts the amount of volume control you have. The problem can also occur with other components too, such as DVD/Blu-ray players, tuners, SACD players, MiniDisc players and even, on occasion, turntables!

The solution is to use an interconnect which 'attenuates' the signal from the CD player allowing a much more controlled and better sound from your system.

"Fantastic Upgrade"
Having had my cinema amp for 15 years and connecting my blu ray via analogue interconnectors , I decided to buy some new Russ Andrews ones to replace the cheap ones I had in place . There products never fail to amaze my ears .

If you think your equipment needs an upgrade think twice and speak to these guys .

These cables will be going back when I use the upgrade scheme .
