8TC

Improve on the performance of 4TC Jumper Cables and hear better sound from your biwirable speakers!

Our 8TC Jumper Cables are a higher-performance version of our popular 4TC Jumper Cables.

Use them when you use a single run of ‘speaker cable with bi-wirable loudspeakers. If you use them to replace these (usually nasty sounding) gold plated metal links, you’ll hear a far smoother, sweeter sound.

A set is sufficient for two speakers.

  • How to fit Jumpers
If you have bi-wiriable speakers, there’s a chance you might not be hearing the full performance they are capable of. Russ isn’t a big fan of biwiring per se; he feels that some amplifiers find the load of two sets of speaker cables difficult to handle, with the result that although some areas, such as bass, sounds better, while others – such as the soundstage and the musicality – are worse.

Another problem with biwiring is that you need to use two runs of cable – or a properly designed biwirable cable. This can double the cost of the connection; we feel it’s much better to spend that money on a better quality single run of cable, rather than two runs of a cheaper cable. Most speakers provide ‘links’ to connect the two sets of binding posts when you are single wiring biwirable loudspeakers; these links can sound terrible and may well be the reason some people report improvements in sound quality when they biwire – simply because they’ve removed them!

If you are single wiring, we provide jumper cables that enable you to replace the links with high quality Kimber cable. The difference in sound quality can be stunning and you can use them even if you don’t use Kimber’s cable as your main speaker cable (though we think it’s much better quality if you do!)

    Step 1

The back of a typical biwire speaker. The bottom set of binding posts handle the bass and midrange; the top set handle the higher frequencies. Note the ‘links’ connecting the binding posts together.

    Step 2

If you want to single wire your speakers and use our jumper cables, first remove the links.

    Step 3

Our jumper cables are supplied in sets of four (enough for a pair of speakers). Fitting them depends on the type of connections your speakers can accept. Having inspected them, we find that these speakers can accept bare wire, bananas or spades.

    Step 4

Since our main speaker cable is fitted with bananas, we’ve opted for jumper cables that are fitted with spades and bananas. First, we connect the spades to the bottom set of binding posts – this is where the main speaker cable will fit when we wire the system later. Using spades means that the socket for the bananas are free.

    Step 5

The other end of the jumper cables connect to the top set of binding posts. Make sure the red post connects to the red post and the black post to the black post. Simply plug the banana into the top set.

    Step 6

All you need to do now is to connect your main speaker cable to the bottom set (the low frequency) binding posts. Simply sit back and enjoy your music!

    "Refinement"
Bought these to replace low quality jumpers on some second hand floor standers recently bought. I’ve used them to jump up to the treble inputs, as I think is the norm and can say I’m impressed. They are a lot of money but they have definitely brought some sweetness and refinement to the top end of my Spendors.

    "I Wasn’t Expecting That…."
This has probably been one of the best value for money upgrades undertaken in 30 years plus worth of “tinkering”. Bought for a pair of Quad Z3 speakers to replace the factory fit metal jumpers, these jumpers worked wonders with the soundstage straight out of the box, highly recommended!

    "An Excellent Upgrade"
My new speakers have biwire terminals fitted with those nasty flat metal links. I found a length of QED cable which had been lying around since the 80s and cut them to length, stripped off the ends and fitted them. The results were pleasing but I knew I could do better and to that end have just bought 8TC jumpers. There was an immediate improvement in sound quality. I can hardly wait for them to burn in!

    "Upgrade From 4Tc"
8TC Jumpers straight out the Box give an Instant improvement over 4TC cut and stripped. Correct terminations must help although I did try to keep the 4's clean.
Just reignited my interest in John Wick 2.

    "Short And Sweet"
Having upgraded to 8TC speaker cable and gone back to single wiring my Linn Katan speakers, l did wonder if anything could better the sound l was hearing. The Linn crossover cards work well but these "Jumpers" give me so much more. Even CDs sound amazing. The only downside is that the wife is getting a bit fed up with me grinning and shouting, "Did you hear that?"

    "Brilliant Upgrade"
I recently bought these to replace homemadelinks made from left over speaker cable. I cannot believe the difference after only a week. Most noticable so far the sound of acoustic guitars is more lifelike and backing vocalists are now spread out across the sound stage rather than bunched together. Definitely a highly recommended upgrade.

    "Exceptional"
I recently replaced the metal links in my old mission 752 speakers. I was gobsmacked:
the soundstage opened up, there was more foot-tapping musicality. No need of new loudspeakers (I was considering new). Magnificent!
