Sony's use of Kimber Kable in their high-end components continues with the latest range-topping Walkman

Sony has announced a new range-topping Hi-Res Walkman, the NWWM1ZM2, which replaces the previous NW-WMZ model.
Amongst the high-end features that have been reported in the Hi-Fi Press – including a gold-plated OFC copper case providing a stronger digital ground - is the use of Kimber Kable running from the amp section to the balanced headphone jack.
In their own press release, Sony said : "To achieve a powerful and smooth sound quality, Sony has selected a thick KIMBER KABLE® to run from the amp base to the balanced headphone jack on the NW-WM1ZM2, much like the renowned DMP-Z1. This carefully selected component helps transmit high quality audio signals, leaving just you and the music."

The inclusion of the cable in their list of key attributes is testament to Sony’s respect for Kimber’s expertise and follows the inclusion of Kimber Kable in their £8000 DMP-Z1 player and MDR-Z7 and Z1R headphone cable options. The NW-WM1ZM2 is priced at £3350.
